About Me

My name is Ryan Louder. I am a London-based artist whose work is inspired by the vivid and surreal experiences of REM intrusions, a phenomenon caused by narcolepsy. This unique neurological condition means my brain enters REM sleep while I’m awake, allowing me to paint my dreams in real-time. Unlike traditional dream-inspired art, my work captures these hallucinations as they happen, creating layered, otherworldly imagery that blurs the boundary between waking reality and the surreal.

My creative journey originally began in music, studying at the Royal College of Music and working as a composer for film, opera, and pop music. However, my need for a more immediate, expressive medium led me to painting. Since then, I have created over 2,000 paintings, nearly all of which are available in my store as originals and signed limited-edition prints in various sizes. To date, I have sold over 800 original paintings, connecting with collectors around the world.

My paintings explore images within images, using layered visuals to create a sense of depth and complexity. Many of my works depict otherworldly landscapes, surreal figures, and dreamlike compositions, drawing viewers into a world that is both familiar and alien.

I showcase my art at Greenwich Market in London, where I connect directly with collectors and art lovers. My work resonates with people who see their own subconscious visions reflected in my paintings, making each piece a deeply personal experience for its viewer.
